Downsizing Onsite Consultation - $300

A lifestyle change can be very exciting or a bit scary. Lots to consider – the unknowns ahead, the letting go, the adjustments to be made – can be consuming, fun and yet overwhelming. You don’t have to do it alone. Let’s talk! I’ve been there. I’ve downsized and moved more than I care to remember.  But it’s all doable with help. I want to help!

I also want to help you with assisting your aging parent downsize. If downsizing is of concern to us with all the adjustments to be made, then it likely will be just a greater concern for our aging parents as they transition into this last phase of life.  The value of reflection, familiarity and the anticipation of their new lifestyle can’t be underestimated. With my geriatric social work experiences and sensitivity to their specific needs, I can help!

  • 2-hour onsite consultation
  • We discuss your vision, expectations, time-frame and budget.
  • I provide ideas, inspire, answer questions, and offer solutions to your design needs.
  • You may use this time in whichever way you please. For instance, we can discuss a full home decoration project, select a new color for a room, or lightly re-style a room.  For your aging parents we can explore their varied needs, desires, and how to create a beautifully designed comfortable familiar environment.
  • My intention is to deliver value and make our time together as worthwhile to you as possible.

            (Additional consulting time is available at a rate of $150/hour)

Downsizing Decorating Package  -  $1500/Room up to 400 sq. ft

(10-hour block of design time)

This plan is comprehensive, providing a beautifully designed room with the ease, support, and sensitivity that it takes to make sure your downsizing experience is pleasurable. With the advent of today’s technology and accessibility to resources, this plan offers the extra advantage of you being able to implement the plan yourself with the design guidelines provided below while offering the best value with no added mark-ups or commissions.

Sensitive survey of items that will be moved to your new home.

  • We discuss the functionality and purpose for each item to help you decide if the item merits moving forward or if a replacement is needed

Photograph and measurement of furnishings that remain.

  • Items are photographed for reference and measured to ensure they fit in the new space.  

Measurement of room in the new home.

  • A visit to your new home is required to measure the room being designed. If an acceptable floor plan is available, no visit is necessary. 

Selection of 6-8 new furnishing items

  • Design style, concepts, and colors will have been discussed during initial consultation. Now I get to work on selecting items virtually online, based on your budget, that will complement your existing furnishings and design the beautiful room you’ve envisioned for your new home.  

Furniture placement floor plan.

  • Once items have been selected, a floor plan is drafted illustrating furniture placement creating a harmonious flow. The floor plan will facilitate the moving process demonstrating the ease of furniture placement.

Mood board presentation

  • The design of the room comes together in a colorful concept board used as a visual tool to help illustrate the furnishings selected and how colors, textures and patterns all blend well together.
  • Edits made to the selection of furnishings will be on an hourly basis.  

Itemized shopping list to purchase items selected

  •  A simple click ‘n’ buy list is provided for client to purchase items directly.
  • Keep in mind that a timely purchase of items is essential as items on online stores may no longer be available if you wait too long to order.  If an item is no longer available within a month of my having provided the shopping list, I will undertake a search for a new item with no additional design fee.
  • Retail designer trade discounts where applicable are available


A one-hour follow-up visit.

  • Once all the furnishings are received, I return to assist with interior styling and finishing touches.
  • Photography of the room will occur on a date agreed upon at your convenience.

Downsizing “Get it Done” Transition Package​ - $450   

(3-hour​ block of time)

Sorting through objects of precious memories, deciding which ones are meaningful and which ones you’re ready to let go, organizing a system to transport these objects from your current home to your new home, contracting with movers and shippers, gifting, donating or disposing of items can be all consuming and overwhelming.  There is help! I have affiliates and trusted resources to help with these tasks.  However, it’s possible, you will need to and choose to do these tasks yourself.  In doing so, I encourage you to seek help from your partner and family members, as it will make the tasks easier and less stressful. 

If you have to do it on your own, I can help make arrangements, supervise, and oversee the entire transition process. (This plan is only available to clients who have purchased Design services)

Trusted referral sources for help with organizing, sorting, purging, moving, cleaning services, donations, consignment dealers, and estate sales companies are provided. Clients contracts with vendors and manage directly. 

There are multitude of tasks associated with the downsizing process including but not least, scheduling appointments, organizing details, meeting and supervising vendors. The list below offers insight as to services needed and how I can help!

    • you guide them and they assist with sorting and purging
    • I can supervise and follow-up with organizers 
  • moving services
    • they will pack and move the furniture
    • I can be present during moving day to ensure the correct items get moved and placed in the correct rooms

    • they will pick up donation items
    • I can arrange to meet and supervise the pick-ups
  • disposal companies
    •  they will pick up and dispose of all excess items
    • I can be on hand to meet and supervise the pick-up ensuring the correct items are disposed
  • consignment dealers
    • they will sell your unwanted furniture and pay you a percentage of the sale price
    •  I can assist by sending photographs of items to be sold to the dealer for assessment of value and make arrangement​s for delivery of furniture to the dealer.
  • estate sale companies
    •  they will visit your home and evaluate what can be auctioned and sold
    •  I can schedule the appointment, meet with the representative, inform you of their suggestions and estimate and followup with subsequent meetings and supervision of the process.  
  • moving material
    • I can assist with the ordering of packing supplies such as the correct size boxes, tape, markers, and bubble wrap

Refresh and Interior Styling Package​ -$450/Room up to 400 sq. ft

(three hour block of design time)

If you can handle all of your downsizing needs on your own, Fabulous! It takes tenacity and good organization to get it done! You’ve got it! Way to go! It’s not an easy task to delve into the myriad of memories as you touch every object and decide whether it merits keeping or letting go. It’s not easy to deal with the extensive amount of downsizing details – the sorting, purging, organizing, packing, moving, unpacking, and re-organizing that needs to be done!   But you’ll get it done and once you’re settled in your new home, you’ll want it to look beautiful.  Need a little help with interior styling?  Positioning of furniture?  A refresh or upgrade of accessories? I can help!

  • We begin with a brief onsite consultation to explore your vision and decorating expectations.
  • Utilizing existing furniture and accessories, I help with furniture placement to achieve a harmonious flow, arrangement of wall hangings, and positioning of accessories to create a balanced beautiful space. Arrangement for assistance to move furniture or large items will need to be made in advance.
  • If during this process you determine certain furnishings need to be refreshed, I can help with the search in choosing the perfect design items. This service is based on an hourly rate.

Designer for a Day​ - $300 

(2 hour block time)

Let’s go shopping!  A visit to your home prior to the outing is advisable.  We will compile a list of furnishings and accessories needed and gather photos of colors to be coordinated.  I’ll lend my professional designer’s eye and provide expert advice on best solutions for making your home everything you want it to be.

Depending upon client location, a travel charge will apply based on my hourly rate of $150/hour 30 minutes of travel time is included in the above service packages. ​​​​

Payment for all service packages is required in advance.
